9. Gerard de Limesi

The following information on Gerard de Limesi appears on page 548 in the book "Domesday Descendants: A Prosopography of Persons Occurring in English Documents, 1066-1166, Volume 2", by K.S.B. Keats-Rohan (and published by Boydell Press in 2002; FHL Book # 942 D3KK): "de Limesi, Gerard: Son of Alan de Limesy, lord of Cavendish, Suffolk, whom he succeeded before 1162 (Sanders, 30). He died before 1185, leaving by his wife Amice de Bidun a son John, who died without issue in 1193, when Basilia, later wife of Hugh de Odingselles (d.1239), and Eleanor, later wife of David 1 Lindsay of Crawford (d.a.1219) daughters and coheiresses of Gerard, were still minors (Rot. de Dom. 51)."

The following information on Gerard de Limesi appears in the book "Analysis of the Domesday Book of the County of Norfolk," by Rev. George Munford, 1858 (FHL Film # 994042, Item 5, pp.41-42): A Limesi pedigree (on page 42) shows Gerard de Limesi and Amice (Amy) had two children: Basilia de Limesi and John de Limesi. Basilia de Limesi married Sir Hugh de Odingselles (ob 1238), by which Basilia and Hugh had a son Sir William de Odingsells (co. Warwick, 1249); and John de Limesi (ob.1198) married Alice, da. of Robert de Harcourt, by which John and Alice had a son, named Hugh de Limesi (1223; ob.s.p.)
